About
The Medical Research Council (MRC) is a publicly funded organisation dedicated to improving human health through world-class medical research. MRC is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) which invests over £8bn a year into a broad spectrum of research across the UK.
Every year the MRC invests over £700m into medical research and infrastructure, supporting fundamental discovery science through to later stage translational/applied science across the UK and in Africa.
Alongside our funding activities, MRC undertakes world-leading research and provides national facilities through the Laboratory of Medical Sciences (London), the Laboratory of Molecular Biology (Cambridge), and the Nucleic Acid Therapy Accelerator and Mary Lyon Centre at MRC Harwell (Oxfordshire).
