Responsibilities

The Artificial Intelligence and Informatics group currently has the following responsibilities, as a member of the team your role would be to support one or more of the following technologies involved with our infrastructure.

  • Collaborate on projects with other groups to develop scientific software such as web applications, APIs, Machine Learning, Image processing.
  •  Writing and deploying your scientific software making the best use of our existing cloud/HPC/data infrastructure.
  • Good software development practices such as CI/CD, writing tests and installers.
  • Requirements gathering.
  • Collaboration with software support groups in STFC Scientific Computing Department and The Rosalind Franklin Institute to facilitate software teams working on specific Franklin projects.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive and up to date best practice documentation for all members of the Franklin.
  • Attend scientific seminars and meetings to keep up to date with developments in software and methodology.
  • Manage and develop projects for Graduate and Student placements associated with the Franklin.
  • Line Management of RSEs and RSAs
  • Disseminate results through writing papers and presenting at scientific meetings.
  • Contribute to the public engagement in science programme of the Franklin.
  • Support core team in development and maintenance of compute and data infrastructure.
  • User support and service management (e.g. training, writing documentation, support)
