Experienced leader in life sciences to enhance expertise on OBN Board

Abingdon, UK. OBN, a not-for-profit member organisation dedicated to catalysing success in life sciences, is delighted to announce the appointment of Mike Karim as a Non-Executive Director (NED).

Mike is an award-winning HealthTech leader with over 30 years of experience in roles across top global health and medical companies, where he has been instrumental in supporting the development of market-winning products, navigating complex regulatory environments, and delivering exceptional business growth.

His career spans the spectrum from blue-chip medical devices to running a start-up. In 2015 he spun-out Oxford Endovascular Ltd from Oxford University and went on to raise over $30m to support its growth. He was recently appointed as CCO of Norwegian MedTech company Medistim and is a venture partner for Singapore-based Synapto Ventures.

OBN boasts over 500 members, the majority of whom are R&D SMEs. The organisation focuses on supporting its members’ success by helping them to create connections, save time & money, and secure investment.

Paul Edwards, Chair of OBN, expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Chair and NED, David Browning, who will be stepping down at the next Board meeting at the end of his tenure. “We extend a warm welcome to Mike and heartfelt thanks to David Browning for his dedicated service.”

Stuart Rose, CEO of OBN, also shared his enthusiasm for the new appointment: “I am delighted to welcome Mike to the Board of OBN. His real-life and recent hands-on experience of spinning out a successful MedTech company and raising money is a real asset to our Board.”

Mike Karim added that:
