Empower Yourself and Advance Cancer Research with the This Is For Me – This Is For Science Campaign
London, UK – We are excited to announce the launch of the This Is For Me – This Is For Science campaign, a nationwide initiative that empowers individuals to enhance their personal health while contributing to groundbreaking cancer research. From 1 January to 31 December 2025, participants are invited to set and complete a personalised distance challenge, fostering both personal growth and scientific advancement.
About the Campaign
The This Is For Me – This Is For Science campaign encourages individuals across the UK to commit to a self-determined distance goal, ranging from 1 to 100 miles, to be completed at their own pace and convenience. This flexible approach allows participants to integrate the challenge into their daily lives, promoting physical well-being and a sense of accomplishment.
Fundraising for a Cause
Participants are encouraged to pledge or fundraise a minimum of £50 per event. The campaign aims to raise £250,000, with all proceeds dedicated to funding cutting-edge translational cancer research nationwide. By joining the #THISISFORME #THISISFORSCIENCE movement, individuals directly support the transformation of laboratory discoveries into effective treatments and technologies, accelerating progress in the fight against cancer.

Quotes
“This campaign is as much about personal growth as it is about scientific progress,” says the campaign founder Dr Anaid Benitez, Translation Scholar at The Francis Crick Institute. “By taking on this challenge, participants not only enhance their own health but also contribute to advancements that can save lives.”
“We are at an amazing moment in discovery research, where we have all the tools, the data, and the people to really translate our discovery science into clinical impact,” says Professor Charles Swanton, Chief Clinician at Cancer Research UK. “This initiative will help CRUK-funded scientists take discoveries from the lab and translate them into tools, drugs, prognostic markers, and other biomarkers for direct clinical benefit.”
“This Is For Me – This Is For Science is a fantastic new campaign where we’re bringing together patients, scientists, consultants, healthcare professionals, and the public to raise funds to help beat cancer,” says Dave Chuter, Chair of Independent Cancer Patients’ Voice (ICPV). “The big thing is making sure that everyone knows where their money goes. We can track it, show you the impact, and you’ll know that your contribution helped save lives.”
