OBN Board Observer

OBN is an established and highly regarded not-for-profit membership organisation providing support and catalysing growth in the life sciences sector, with a particular focus on early-stage and emerging R&D SME’s. OBN has a growing network of over 500 member companies, with an engaged network of life sciences industry professionals of over 10,000 people.

Governed by a Board of Directors whose members are drawn from across the range of Pharma, BioTech, MedTech, service and financial sectors, as well as long-standing Executive Directors from within the organisation, we are seeking to recruit an additional Board Observers to input into the strategic decision-making process of OBN, from the perspective of a dynamic, emerging entrepreneur.

The aim of the role is to bring fresh perspective to the Board, whilst providing a developmental opportunity to the individual. As such, the successful candidate will share a vision of a vibrant, UK life sciences industry and is likely to be an early career entrepreneur in one or more of the following areas:

• Investor/venture capitalist;
• Working in biotech drug development/diagnostics/devices;
• A leader in an early-stage start-up

In order to fulfill the requirements of this role you would required to attend four board meetings in person plus preparation/advance reading time.

In return for bringing a fresh vision to the Board, the job holder will gain “behind the scenes” knowledge of governance and the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from a cross-section of highly knowledgeable and experienced professionals from across the life sciences sector.

This is an unpaid role, though the successful candidate will receive complimentary tickets for all OBN events, including the flagship BioTrinity conference.
