OBN is a not-for-profit business network which provides comprehensive support for life sciences companies in the Golden Triangle and beyond.
This is a busy and varied role that supports activity across the business to include Events, Business Development and our Membership network. This role would be ideal for an experienced marketing co-ordinator/executive who is ready to progress to a junior manager position.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Communications:
- Prepare and execute the marketing plan
- Manage the ongoing growth of CONNECT, OBN’s twice yearly magazine, including all aspects of production: topic selection, engagement with contributors and graphic designer, distribution and maximisation of advertising revenue
- Draft copy for the monthly news and membership update, distributed electronically to c.9k contacts
- Gatekeeper and editor for all external announcements (up to 4 per week)
- Interface with member organisations to post news, jobs, events, etc., on the OBN website
- Promote the Purchasing Consortium suppliers via email on a twice annual basis
- Analyse and report on results of the communications effort to support improved performance
- Stay up-to-date with industry news and events and cascade where appropriate
- Attend OBN and other industry events and publish key messages and updates via social media and the website
Social Media:
- Manage and grow OBN's presence on all social media platforms, in particular Twitter and LinkedIn
- Work with internal teams to support campaigns and initiatives
- Seek opportunities to improve the use of social media and increase and develop followers
Branding:
- Be a brand ambassador for OBN, ensuring guidelines are adhered to and used consistently
- Work with colleagues to develop marketing collateral such as signage, displays and logos
- Work with our external design agency on projects as required, including production of hard copy collateral, pull-up banners, stage branding
Websites:
- Manage website changes on the main OBN site and event-specific websites as required and in conjunction with the OBN Events team
- Work with Head of Business Information to ensure relevant updates are being made
- Work to increase SEO and Google rankings
- Keep track of the latest trends in communications/social media to maximise the benefits of the websites and make timely updates to the functionality of the sites
- Ad hoc website tasks including updating Sponsors information, leaflet postings etc.
PR:
- Draft press releases and announcements when needed and liaise with media agency as required
The Successful candidate will:
- Preferably degree educated in a relevant subject with c5 years’ experience in a communications and/or marketing role
- Highly organised with a committed, flexible attitude and a strong work ethic
- Be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with internal teams
- Be fluent in spoken and written English
- Have a flair for producing dynamic, engaging and creative business copy, with a strong attention to detail
- Be highly IT literate with the ability to identify and rapidly adopt new approaches
- Be a proficient user of PhotoShop or similar graphics/illustrator programme
- Be fluent in social media, in particular Twitter and LinkedIn in the business environment and preferably have experience of Hootsuite or a similar platform
- Familiarity of using a CRM database (we have recently transitioned to GlueUp)
- Willing to work additional hours with occasional early mornings, late nights and overnight stays
- Experience within the life science sector would be preferred but is not essential

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday, though a high level of flexibility is expected as part of this role.
