The Vaccines Manufacturing and Innovation Centre (VMIC) has been established to provide the UK’s first strategic vaccine development and advanced manufacturing capability.  VMIC will fast track development and manufacture of early stage vaccine products, as well as serve as the UK’s response capability to produce vaccines against emerging infectious diseases. They have already taken a leading role in the Government’s national response to COVID-19.

Working through collaborative ventures with industry, academia and NGOs, VMIC will ultimately strengthen and innovate the UK’s vaccines sector. Their state-of-the-art vaccines manufacturing facility will be located on the renowned Harwell Science and Innovation Campus near Didcot in Oxfordshire. 

Job Description 

VMIC are in the process of constructing the facility at the Harwell Campus near Didcot in Oxfordshire. They are looking for an Engineering Team Leader to support the set up the facility and assisting in the recruitment of the engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day management of the small team. 

Personal Specification 

In order to be considered for the role candidates will need to have an Engineering Degree or equivalent preferably within Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering (although not essential). The post holder must have a strong GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing background. Be an exceptional communicator and general ‘people person’ who can get the job done whilst motivating and encouraging the team to succeed.  

In addition to the leadership responsibilities, the role requires the post holder to be a ‘hands on’ practical engineer – carrying out repairs, service maintenance and qualifications as per their discipline. Therefore, being an enthusiastic and driven individual who thrives on problem solving and is not afraid to get involved. 

It would be advantageous if candidates are a Site Electrical Engineer & qualified SAP / Duty Holder or have desires to be.
