SporeGen is a small biotech company founded in 2012 with labs close to Kings Cross in central London. One area of our business is in the discovery and exploitation of novel environmental bacteria that, a) can survive in the gastrointestinal tract of humans and animals as well as b) conferring health benefits to the relevant host. The company has been successful with a number of new and novel bacteria that have been licenced to companies worldwide.
We are looking for a research scientist able to work independently as well as within a team. Your work will include strain discovery and characterisation of associated biological activity. Work will include basic microbiology, sequence analysis, biochemical analysis and potentially immunological analysis. This may also lead to in vivo studies using relevant animal models.
You will be expected to have a good understanding of GLP, Health and Safety and SOPs together with the ability to communicate efficiently and prepare reports. We are looking for someone who has proven ability in this field. This may be evidenced from publications or equivalent.
Required Qualifications and skills
B.Sc. in a relevant biological science
Experience in microbiology
Strong communication skills
Additional skillsets desirable (but not essential)
Home Office Personal licence for work with animals.
