26 September 2016, Abingdon, UK: OBN, the leading membership organisation supporting the UK’s innovative life sciences companies, and the West Sussex Health and Life Sciences Cluster (WSHLSC) announced today that they are launching a top-quality funding and export support event in West Sussex aimed at health and life science companies.
The event, which takes place on Tuesday 6 December at 6.30pm at the Holiday Inn, Gatwick, is formatted on OBN’s long-running and successful BioTuesday™ events and will cover the sources of public non-dilutable funding and export support to UK R&D companies. The evening will consist of several high-quality presentations from leading experts in the field followed by a panel discussion and networking over wine and canapes.
West Sussex has a booming health and life sciences sector; from world renowned medical and diagnostic technology companies to major pharmaceuticals and industry support services. The county is home to more than 120 diverse companies, contributing to the forefront of innovation in the global health and life sciences sector.
WSHLSC, supported by West Sussex County Council, and its partners are focused on building the sector to position West Sussex as a leading place on the national and international stage for businesses to start, thrive and locate, with a key drive being the creation and retention of high value jobs.
Dr John Harris, CEO of OBN, said: “We are delighted to be working with West Sussex County Council on this exciting event. Life science organisations prosper when embedded within recognised clusters with an integrated support system and dynamic business networks. Our joint goal for this event is to support both our existing OBN membership base in the region and the companies within the West Sussex Health and Life Sciences Cluster whilst encouraging new companies to view West Sussex as an attractive region in which to establish and grow their life sciences businesses.”
Louise Goldsmith, Leader of WSCC, commented: “The health and life sciences sector is a key sector in West Sussex and we are strongly committed to supporting its ground-breaking research through the establishment of the West Sussex Health and Life Sciences Cluster, a cluster that will spread innovation throughout the regional life sciences ecosystem by creating a sustainable platform for networking and knowledge transfer. We want to help grow and support the sector and put West Sussex on the map as a major hub for life sciences.
“This event will help bring companies together to galvanise our cluster, facilitate interaction and provide networking opportunities in the wider region.” Click here for registration and further event information.
