Overview and background

Oxford Cancer Biomarkers translates ground-breaking scientific discovery into predictive biomarker diagnostic products that allow medicines to be personalised for the benefit of the cancer patient.   Specific molecular insights into disease and pathological processes has allowed the Company to develop innovative oncology screening and diagnostic tests, commencing with colon cancer, a disease affecting 1.2 million patients every year, presenting a major global burden of morbidity and mortality.

Oxford Cancer Biomarkers is now in a position to launch the first products to enable improved standards of care and health economic outcomes in cancer medicine and in realising the maximum value for our customers and stakeholders.

The company seeks a dynamic sales and marketing professional with relevant applied domain experience to lead the team to rapidly expedite global commercialization of proprietary key tools to support a step change in the screening and treatment of cancer, through direct sales and blue-chip partnerships.

Job purpose

The purpose of the Sales and Marketing Director role is to develop and expand the Company’s commercial activity, generating sustainable revenue, growth and a reputation as a leader in precision medicine providing high quality products and services that positively impact patient care pathways and economic outcomes.

The role will take responsibility within Oxford Cancer Biomarkers (OCB) for all aspects of sales and marketing, including business development.  The role will add value to OCB’s growth by identifying new commercial opportunities and developing and implementing marketing and sales activities.  The job holder will also provide strategic advice on product development strategy and commercialisation to the OCB Board and team.

Experience

 

  •   Proven working experience as a successful sales and marketing
      Director within a dynamic start-up or blue-chip life-sciences / clinical
      diagnostics company.

Essential

 

  •   At least five years of senior experience in sales and marketing within
      the clinical diagnostics field, ideally specialising in oncology.

  •   Higher degree in Life Sciences.

BSc in Life Sciences and management qualifications (or significant experience).

Key tasks

Sales and Marketing Strategy

  • Working with the CEO and the OCB team, take responsibility for developing and implementing the global commercialisation strategy for the OCB product and service portfolio, taking into account key partnership and customer opportunities.

Revenue generation

  • Responsible for delivering the product and sales revenues for the Company, within an initial focus in the UK on key NHS centres and private healthcare providers with a rapid expansion to international business opportunities including strategic business partnerships.

Budgets and forecast

  • Key input into the preparation of budgetary and financial forecasts.  Monitor sales and marketing performance using key metrics and prepare clear and concise reports for senior management.

Customer and partner relationships

  • Develop and maintain highly productive relationships with key customers, market access partners and other key stakeholders, providing advocacy for customers and partners within OCB and for OCB within partner organisations.

Market insight

  • Provide applied knowledge to support the development of achievable, world-class Product and Service Requirements for the OCB portfolio, taking into account R&D, manufacturing, validation, regulatory, quality standards, intellectual property and competitive differentiation requirements on a global basis.

Communications

  • Develop and implement a global communications strategy, taking into account Company needs and opportunities.

General

  • Utilise Market Intelligence Systems pro-actively to support business development, marketing and customer support activities.
  • Support the OCB team in establishing complaints management systems and customer satisfaction metrics (eg NPS - Net Promoter Score).
  • Support key strategic projects, such as website update and partnership development. Additional duties as necessary.
