We currently have a full-time vacancy for a Toxicology Manager to manage and develop the Toxicology department. The Toxicology Manager will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of professional work is maintained and the financial targets and growth are achieved. Will be expected to participate in the management and direction of the company.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that all activities within the department are in compliance with Project Licences and the Establishment Licence
  • Ensure that all activities within the department are in compliance with the Animal (Scientific Procedure) Act 1986 (A(SP)A) as laid down in the various codes of practice
  • Ensure that a high standard of animal welfare is maintained
  • Ensure all work using animals is ethically justified
  • To ensure compliance with GLP, GMP and the policies and procedures of Wickham Laboratories Quality System for work performed in the Department
  • To be responsible for the implementation of quality procedures within the Department


  • Previous experience in CRO industry or other scientific background
  • Previous experience of acute and alternative toxicology
  • Experience of Home Office licencing
  • Good technical knowledge in GLP and GMP requirements
  • Commercial experience of growing business in an International market
  • Client and project management
  • Management experience including budgets, pricing, contract and staff


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately, take initiative when required
  • Experience of MS Office packages
  • Keep up to date with professional knowledge, expertise and best practice
  • Proven ability to engage constructively with colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to independently negotiate, provide constructive feedback and support process improvement initiatives


  • Educated to a minimum of degree level (or equivalent) in Life Science subject
  • Membership with a relevant Toxicology
