About MediSieve

MediSieve is an exciting medical device start-up developing “magnetic blood filtration”, a revolutionary treatment for blood-borne diseases which removes pathogens directly from the bloodstream. We are developing magnetic particles which bind to specific entities in blood, and are looking for a highly motivated Biochemist to join our team. More details on medisieve.com.

Your Role

You will work alongside our Product Development team to help develop and test our magnetic particle products, reporting to the Head of R&D, Dr Cristina Blanco Andujar. The ideal candidate would have working knowledge in processing and analysing blood samples. Moreover, experience working in a clinical microbiology laboratory and/or analysis of sample endotoxin levels will be a plus.

This is an opportunity to join an award-winning, ambitious start-up during an exciting stage of development when you can make a real impact on the company. The post is a full-time, 2-year contract, subject to probation review period. A longer-term position may be available at the end of the contract. The place of work will be in the company’s offices and laboratories in the Translation & Innovation Hub building at 80 Wood Lane, White City, London, W12 0BZ.

Experience and attributes

The candidate should be self-motivated, pro-active, innovative, enthusiastic and communicative; and have hands-on experience in a biochemistry/microbiology lab and in at least 2 of the following areas:

  • Antibodies and/or aptamers
  • Haematology and blood interaction
  • Microbiology (familiar with bacterial growth)
  • Immunology
  • Endotoxin detection (eg. LAL test)
  • Medical devices or pharma industry

Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to research, draft, critique and present reports on complex issues to a broad range of audiences.

Ability to work independently to manage, prioritise workload and also work collaboratively in a team.


  • Postgraduate Degree or equivalent in biochemical or related discipline.
