Responsibilities:

  • Day to day direction of work and managing the activities of a large and / or moderately complex team
  • Supervision and management of a busy laboratory
  • Ensure all data is collated, reviewed and approved for preparation of reports
  • Authorisation of data
  • Ensure compliance with quality procedures for work performed in the section
  • Problem solving and performance of investigations, identifying root cause and initiating appropriate effective CAPA
  • Communication with customers
  • Be aware of budgetary restraints
  • Assist with the recommendation of staffing levels and with the selection process and interviewing of new employees
  • Off-site visits to clients for problem solving or consultation
  • Deputising for other Laboratory Managers in their absence

Requirements:

Essential:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant science subject
  • Experience and knowledge in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) or an equivalent regulatory standard
  • Extensive practical experience in all aspects of microbiological QC testing including bioburden and environmental monitoring
  • Previous supervisory or management experience in a laboratory environment

Beneficial:

  • Previous experience of client consultation on environmental monitoring

Salary and reward package:

  • Salary £35,000 to £39,780 per annum depending on qualifications and experience
