About the topic:

Improved understanding and engineering of natural and synthetic nanoparticles is set to impact on many aspects of medicine. Applications include drug delivery, diagnostics and in the production of materials with improved physicochemical properties - and the list continues to grow – some commentators even speculate that in the future nanobots will patrol the body to identify problems and make repairs.

Investor interest in nanotechnology in its full diversity is growing at an annual rate close to 20% and forecasts suggests a market value of $12billion by 2021, with medical applications predicted to have a significant slice of the cake.
